For some off-the-beaten-path adventures try visiting The Jewish Quarter of Samarkand Uzbekistan. Once a thriving city on the Silk Road, today the community is very small. An exciting place to explore, make sure you visit the beautiful 19th-century Gumbaz Synagogue. Throughout Mumbai, India you’ll find several old Synagogues to visit. Kochi India has an area called Jew Town where you can explore quaint streets, antiques, and spice shops. Here you will also find many old Synagogues. Most of China’s Jewish tours will focus on recent Jewish immigration after the 2nd World War. But if you want to track one of the oldest known communities in this area take a trip to Kaifeng, China where a once-thriving Jewish community lived over a thousand years ago. Today not a lot remains except a few classic symbols that point to the once-thriving community.
Africa: The Maghreb
